At Yllana, we are honoured to be directing The Mutiny of Aranjuez for the third consecutive year, a unique production in which history, theatre and emotion come together to bring one of the most significant episodes of our past back to life.
Every year, Aranjuez looks back to March 1808, when growing public unrest and the complex political situation of the time led to a series of events that would change the course of Spanish history. More than two centuries later, those dramatic days are brought vividly back to life through a large-scale production that transforms the city’s streets and historic spaces into a spectacular open-air stage.
For Yllana, being part of this project means taking on the challenge of bringing history closer to audiences through the language of live performance, combining acting, emotion and powerful visual storytelling. Behind every scene lies an intense process of preparation and coordination, with the aim of ensuring that spectators not only learn about what happened, but also feel as though they are part of it.
The Mutiny of Aranjuez is much more than a historical re-enactment: it is a collective experience in which the city, its residents, the performers and the audience come together to revive a fundamental chapter of our shared memory.
Once again, we are carefully preparing every detail so that Aranjuez can travel back in time and history can unfold, quite literally, before our eyes.
The street parade will take place on 4 September, followed by the performance of The Mutiny on 5 September.
