We’re now fully immersed in rehearsals for The Dinner Game: The Musical, and at last we can introduce the full cast who will bring this brand-new version of Francis Veber’s legendary comedy to life.
With Leo Rivera as Pierre Brochant and Jaume Giró as François Pignon leading the company, the cast is already hard at work on an adaptation that brings this celebrated comedy into the world of musical theatre for the very first time.
At Yllana, we are responsible for the direction and adaptation of the production, led by Joe O’Curneen, who also co-writes the book and lyrics with Zenón Recalde. The original music is composed by Iván Macías, with Darío Regattieri as executive producer and beon. Entertainment as producer.
These first rehearsals are allowing us to begin shaping the unique world of this new Dinner Game: impossible characters, misunderstandings, increasingly outrageous situations, music and, of course, plenty of comedy. The challenge is to preserve all the essence and comic precision of Veber’s classic while exploring everything that the language of musical theatre can bring to it.
The table is set, and the guests are on their way.
The Dinner Game: The Musical will open on 4 November at Teatro Marquina in Madrid.
