For the third consecutive year, Yllana has had the privilege of directing and producing the Mutiny of Aranjuez, one of the most emblematic historical celebrations in the Community of Madrid, officially recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
This spectacular historical reenactment brings to life the events of 17–19 March 1808, when the uprising of the people of Aranjuez triggered a series of events that would change the course of Spanish history forever.
Every year, more than 200 local residents generously volunteer their time, energy and enthusiasm to bring this extraordinary event to life, keeping their city’s history and traditions alive. Their dedication is undoubtedly the driving force behind this celebration.
For Yllana, transforming the historic Plaza de Parejas and its surroundings into a spectacular open-air stage once again, in front of thousands of spectators, is a truly extraordinary experience. An opportunity to bring together history, theatre and emotion in a collective event that continues to surprise and move audiences year after year.
Because the Mutiny of Aranjuez is much more than a historical reenactment. It is a way of keeping the past alive, passing it on to future generations and reminding us of the value of the rights and freedoms that were so hard won.
At Yllana, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, Aranjuez City Council and everyone who makes this remarkable celebration possible for their trust, dedication and enthusiasm.
Long live Aranjuez and long live its Mutiny!
