For the third consecutive year, at Yllana we have had the privilege of directing The Mutiny of Aranjuez, an event that once again demonstrated the city’s extraordinary ability to bring its history to life through a powerful, moving and shared theatrical experience.
This year’s performance brought together 178 volunteer actors on stage and attracted around 4,000 audience members, who once again filled Aranjuez to relive one of the key episodes in our history.
Once again, the streets and historic spaces of the city were transformed into the setting for the events of March 1808, thanks to the commitment of a huge team and, above all, to the local residents and participants who make it possible for this historical reenactment to retain all its strength year after year.
For us, directing The Mutiny of Aranjuez for the third time has meant once again taking on the challenge of combining history, theatre, emotion and spectacle, with the aim of making the audience not just spectators, but part of what is unfolding before their eyes.
The result was another edition marked by an extraordinary response from the public and by the dedication of the 178 volunteer performers, whose commitment is an essential part of this project.
From Yllana, we would like to thank everyone who took part, worked on and attended this year’s edition. With 4,000 spectators joining us, Aranjuez has once again shown that its history is more alive than ever.
