After several months of training and several dramatized tours through the city of M\u00f3stoles, we arrived at the icing on the cake: the reenactment by the students of the M\u00f3stoles Theater School of the historical events that took place on May 2, 1808.<\/p>\n
On May 1, starting at 12:00 p.m., the “costumbrista scenes” took place, beginning in Cuartel Huerta Park, continuing at the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints, and ending in Plaza de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n
On May 2, at 8:00 p.m., the reenactment of the historical events that took place on May 2, 1808, took place through its protagonists, the people of M\u00f3stoles, and historical figures such as its mayors, Andr\u00e9s Torrej\u00f3n and Sim\u00f3n Hern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n
This year’s performance was called “1808 Blood and Sand” and is written and directed by David Fern\u00e1ndez (Fabu), a member of Yllana Productions.<\/p>\n
Our company wanted to create a complete show, featuring the collaboration of the Banda de La Estrella. More than 50 musicians participate live in the performance, directed by Beatriz \u00c1lvarez. Popular music articulates this journey from our present moment to the historical events that occurred in 1808 in M\u00f3stoles.<\/p>\n
Synopsis: Almudena is a 21st-century teenager who would rather be at the M\u00f3stoles festival than study history, a subject she finds distant and boring. However, for her next exam, she has a subject that has no interest at all: the Peninsular War.<\/p>\n
What Almudena doesn’t imagine is that, while she reluctantly studies, the ghosts of the past will appear to her. These specters will take her on a journey through time that will completely change her perspective. Through this experience, you will discover the crucial importance of the events that took place in M\u00f3stoles in 1808, when the mayors signed a proclamation that became a cry of resistance against the Napoleonic occupation.<\/p>\n
This symbolic gesture marked a turning point in the history of Spain, inspiring key movements such as the drafting of the C\u00e1diz Constitution of 1812. Thanks to this legacy, Almudena will understand that the values \u200b\u200bof freedom, justice, and democracy that we take for granted today have their roots in that historic moment.<\/p>\n
